North West Wine Trail

By | UPDATES | No Comments

Full of colour and flavour, Tasmania’s North West is the gateway to some of Tasmania’s most beautiful natural places. Exploring the North West you’ll find classic coastal drives, food and wine trails, stunning national parks and beautiful nature reserves.

This region is the gateway to some of Tasmania’s most beautiful natural places – including Cradle Mountain – one of Tasmania’s most visited natural icons. It is also a great place for touring and offers spectacular views at every turn, from Mt Roland near Devonport, Table Cape near Wynyard and the famous ‘Nut’ at Stanley. And some of Tasmania’s prettiest cities and towns sit right on the water’s edge on the scenic North West coast, each with their own unique attractions and relaxed seaside atmosphere.

Barringwood Winery

The food and wines of the North West are special – they are more than just nourishment – because they tie together the stories of the makers and the land where they originated. Enjoy the delights of supremely fresh fruit and vegetables from roadside stalls, and the paddock-to-plate experience of eating food that was sourced from local areas.

The wine and other beverages are things you can enjoy here and take home as gifts or as delicious keepsakes from your visit.

Whichever way you explore the region, there’s no shortage of great places to stay, eat and enjoy. So go where the world’s still wild, in a region that’s home to breathtaking scenery, unbelievable history, gourmet produce and wine and the world’s cleanest air. There’s no end to the experiences on offer.

Come taste your way around the North West Wine Trail at Vin Diemen!

Experience Tasmania’s best in a week, or an afternoon.

VIN Diemen is all about pulling back the curtains and introducing you to some of the beautiful wines, and their growers/makers, for which the island is famed.

You’ll be able to wine (sorry, we mean wind) your way through Tasmania’s four iconic wine trails in Melbourne and Sydney. Eating, drinking and taking in the island’s fascinating arts and culture along the way. Not to mention the fact that the colourful characters who grow the food and produce the wine will be there, peppering the event with insights and their intriguing stories.

Have you ever made your way along the Tamar Valley Wine Route? Here wilderness meets historic streetscapes, as visitors travel a path that traverses the history-steeped region around Launceston. As Tasmania’s oldest wine growing area, it is characterised by its heritage estates, rich farmland and, of course, its cool climate wines.VIN Diemen features: Apogee, Bay of Fires, Bellebonne, Dalrymple, Eddystone Point, Jansz, Pipers Brook, Delamere, Grey Sands, Holm Oak, Josef Chromy, Moores Hill, Sharmans Wine, Tamar Ridge and Wellington & Wolfe.

Perhaps you’re more inclined for a road trip, none is as great as the Great Eastern Drive which must be Tasmania’s most picturesque coastline, featuring the famed Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay. A trail which features the freshest of seafood and mesmerising wines.  VIN Diemen features: Devil’s Corner, Spring Vale and Bream Creek.

For those that fancy the path less travelled, you’ll be right at home along Tasmania’s North West Wine Trail – from Cradle Mountain to the Coast. The North West is home to iconic Tasmanian scenery that includes intoxicating national parks and nature reserves. The area is as famous for nourishing the body as it is the soul. VIN Diemen features: Ghost Rock Vineyard, Barringwood and La Villa Wines.

Or maybe you like to stay close to the capital city, tipping a toe in the rural outskirts of Hobart and take a trip along the Southern Wine Trail. A pristine path where the soil is rich, the water is pure and the food moves fresh from paddock to plate. No wonder southern Tasmania is considered a haven for native and travelling foodies. Plus there’s the Museum of Old & New Art, on the site of Tasmania’s oldest winery, Moorilla.  VIN Diemen features: Nocton, Moorilla, Domaine A and Meadowbank.

It’s safe to say there’s nowhere quite like Tasmania. It’s one of those places that has nothing else like It across the globe. You experience it and something within you changes. Your perspective alters. You go home a different person. Fortunately, for Sydneysiders and Melbournians this life changing experience is coming to you.
It’s also safe to say we’re a bit obsessed with Tasmania’s incredible food and wine, but we know it’s not always easy to pop over to meet the makers in person.

Thankfully, with VIN Diemen coming to the mainland, your chance to meet some of Australia’s best producers might be closer than you ever thought.

If you’re interested in an authentic Tasmanian cellar door experience, make sure you head to VIN Diemen in 2019. There really is no greater food and wine experience.
